Nordring: City welcomes Regional Council decision on financial support

The Bocholt Nordring - more precisely: the section between Hemdener Weg / Adenauerallee - is very likely to receive funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The basis for this is a resolution passed by the regional council on 20.3.23, which voted 12:5 in favour of eligibility for funding.

The city of Bocholt welcomes this decision. City planning officer Daniel Zöhler: "We are very pleased that our important project has received such a positive, clear vote in the regional council. The northern ring road is indispensable for Bocholt's urban development and especially for traffic development. This gives us planning security."

Currently, the coordination of the compensatory measures is underway, Zöhler said. "So far, there are no problems that fundamentally call the development plan into question. The city of Bocholt is consistently working on this project."

The section of the ring road costs around 3.7 million euros, of which the state could take over 2.6 million (70 %).

Previously there had been doubts as to whether the majority of the regional council would vote in favour of the project. These have now been removed.
