Aa cycle path becomes river landscape

Bocholt_Tourism_Biking_River LandscapeBocholt

The Aa Cycle Route is part of the 460 kilometre-long "Riverscape" route, in which the river plays the leading role. The landscape is largely characterised by the watercourses and life along the banks.

During a cycle tour along the rivers Bocholter-Aa, Berkel, Slinge and Ijssel, numerous fascinating river experiences can be discovered. These waterways are the tributaries to the Ijssel and the Ijsselmeer and therefore form the ideal basis for a cross-border network of river cycle paths.

At the sources and estuaries, it is possible to change from one river to the other and return to the starting point of the cycle tour via various circular routes. Information boards at the changeover points provide further interesting details.

The four different routes, with distances ranging from 65 km to 170 km, can be combined into longer circular cycle tours via transfer points. For example, the varied, approximately 260 km long Berkel - IJssel/Oude IJssel - Bocholter Aa - Berkel cycle tour. The route logo of the respective river always shows the way to the destination.
