Music School Bocholt-Isselburg

Welcome to the world of music: children, young people and adults are taught at the music school. No matter whether you are a beginner or an advanced musician - the music school has interesting offers for every group.

Subjects at the music school

The Bocholt Isselburg Music School offers "Early Musical Education" for children of kindergarten age (from 4 years). With movement and dance, singing, speaking and elementary instrumental playing, the musicality of pre-school children is encouraged, and the children's creativity, self-confidence and personality are strengthened.

The "parent-child group" is a musical programme for children aged 2 to 3.5 years accompanied by a parent or adult. Speech verses, kneeling riders, finger plays and songs are introduced in the lessons. They also serve as a stimulus for musical activities at home. Singing, dancing, making music and playing along with the accompanying adult encourages the children to try out their own voices, sounds and movements. Dances and circle games encourage contact with other children.

The "Basic Musical Education" programme is aimed at children aged 6 and over who want to continue their general musical education after early education or who want to start without any previous knowledge. Using singing, rhythmicals, body percussion, Orff instruments (xylophone, metallophone, small percussion instruments, etc.) and movement, we create songs and stories with the children and familiarise them with the beginnings of musical notation. This develops their motor skills and a good sense of rhythm.

Interested parents and children can take part in free taster sessions to get to know the programme without obligation.

The "Instrument Carousel" is aimed at children of primary school age who may have already attended early musical education and want to learn an instrument but can't decide which one they like best.

The children learn to play the cello, double bass, horn and clarinet in a small group with the music school's specialist teachers. The groups of a maximum of four children switch to the next instrument approximately every four to five weeks. The children can even take the respective instruments home to practise and try them out.

No previous knowledge is required.

Instrumental lessons

The music school offers group or individual lessons on almost all instruments.

  • String instruments (guitar, electric guitar, electric bass)

Ensemble, orchestra, choirs

Making music together with others is much more fun. After just a short period of lessons, anyone can join one of our ensembles, orchestras or bands. Singers are always welcome in our choirs or in our singing workshop.

Events and concerts

The Bocholt-Isselburg Music School organises numerous concerts and events throughout the year. Pupils show off their skills in music lessons, at the Mother's Day concert, the children's musical, summer concert, singing podium, wind matinee or the atmospheric Advent and pre-Christmas concerts.

A special highlight is the big music school festival. During the audition week "Music School in Concert" many small concerts also take place in the LernWerk.

We are also regularly active outside the music school: in Bocholt's neighbourhoods, we help to organise district festivals and events with music - for a lively community in the city.

Lessons for adults

18 is not the end of the road! Special offers for adults are designed to refresh what you have learnt or to open up the possibility of new leisure activities. Find out more about our 10-card!

Special education

In close co-operation with the Rosengarten day care centre in Bocholt, the music school offers elementary lessons for children with disabilities.

Projects

The music school responds to needs that are not covered by the programme with a wide range of projects. These range from rock projects to programmes for kindergartens and events for special target groups.

Preparatory training

Anyone wishing to study music must have special skills and knowledge in order to pass the entrance examination to a music college or university. The training programme includes two instruments (major and minor) as well as theory. The content is constantly being adapted in close co-operation with the universities. The music school is available to answer all personal and organisational questions.

The access data will be sent to the parents/guardians or pupils directly after confirmation of enrolment. Here you will find an explanation of the app (PDF).

In order to receive information promptly, we recommend activating the push notifications in the settings.

Parents and Friends of the Bocholt Music School e.V.

Parents and interested parties voluntarily form the "Eltern- und Förderkreis der Musikschule Bocholt e.V.".

Thanks to this private commitment, many projects and events have already been realised that would not have been possible with the music school's public funds, including the promotion of musical talents, the purchase and maintenance of music material, the promotion of events, concert tours and public relations work.
