Bocholt Country Party

Welcome to Bocholt!

Look forward to three active days with your bike and discover the Münsterland!

DAY 1: Immediately after arrival, a visit to the colourful weekly market in front of our historic town hall is a must. Afterwards, you can take your first bike tour along the river Bocholter Aa to the moated castle of Anholt. Here you can explore the beautiful gardens around the castle. Three baroque gardens, a landscape park and a maze surrounded by imposing castle walls await you. The biotope wildlife park Anholter Schweiz is in the immediate vicinity. Seven individual biotopes provide a habitat for a variety of our native animals in large, animal-friendly enclosures. An eye-catcher is the "Swiss Cottage" on an island in the park. Take your time and enjoy the unique nature and wildlife.

DAY 2: An excursion to our Dutch neighbours in the romantic Achterhoek is on the programme: Be sure to visit the charming book town of Bredevoort. In the narrow streets you can feel the medieval flair of the town. Here you can experience history, crafts, art and culture at first hand.
The Netherlands is famous for its wide range of home-made cheeses. We highly recommend a stop at a farm cheese dairy (Kaasboerderij) along the route. Here you can sample the delicacies for yourself on cosy terraces or buy a souvenir or two for the ones back home.
End the day with your meal voucher in one of our restaurants with a beer garden.

DAY 3: Today you should make time for the interesting LWL Museum Textilwerk. In the heart of the new Kulturquartier Kubaai, the museum is located on two sites to the left and right of the river Bocholter Aa. The weaving mill is a fully functional museum factory with more than 30 looms, a boiler house, a machine house, a workshop, a "master's workshop" and a warehouse, documenting the work process of a typical textile factory from the period between 1900 and 1960. Connected by a bridge, on the other side of the Bocholter Aa you will find the second part of the LWL Museum Textilwerk in the former Herding spinning mill, a four-storey brick building. Special exhibitions on the history of fashion and the textile industry are regularly held here on two levels.
The Aasee lake opposite the museum, with its diverse leisure facilities and a beach café with numerous sunbathing spots, offers a successful end to your stay.
