Bocholt Country Party

Welcome to Bocholt!

Look forward to three active days on your bike and discover the Münsterland!

DAY 1: Immediately after your arrival, you should visit the lively weekly market in front of our historic town hall. You can then start your first cycle tour along the Bocholter Aa to Anholt moated castle. The castle is surrounded by a picturesque landscape with three baroque gardens, a landscape park and a fascinating maze. The Anholter Schweiz biotope wildlife park is located nearby. Seven different biotopes provide a generous habitat for native animals in species-appropriate enclosures. One highlight is the "Swiss Cottage" on an island in the park. Take time to enjoy the unique nature and wildlife.

DAY 2: A trip to our Dutch neighbours in the romantic Achterhoek is on the agenda. Be sure to visit the enchanting little book town of Bredevoort, where narrow alleyways convey the town's medieval flair. Here you can experience history, crafts, art and culture up close. The Netherlands is known for its diverse selection of cheeses. Plan a stop at a farm cheese dairy (Kaasboerderij) along the route to sample the delicacies on cosy terraces or buy a souvenir or two to take home. End the day with a meal voucher in one of our restaurants with a beer garden.

DAY 3: Today we recommend a visit to the fascinating LWL-Museum Textilwerk. Located in the centre of the new Kubaai cultural quarter, the museum is spread over two sites on both sides of the Bocholter Aa. The weaving mill is a fully functional museum factory with over 30 looms, boiler house, machine house, workshop, "master's stall" and warehouse, documenting the work processes of a typical textile factory between 1900 and 1960. A bridge takes you to the other side of the Bocholter Aa, where the second part of the LWL-Museum Textilwerk is located in the former Herding spinning mill. Special exhibitions on the history of fashion and the textile industry are regularly held here on two levels. You can round off your visit perfectly at the Aasee lake opposite the museum with its wide range of leisure activities and a beach café with numerous sunbathing areas.
