"Company of the Year 2024": And the winner is... the Sinnack family business

Stadtsparkasse Bocholt and Wirtschaftsförderung Bocholt awarded the entrepreneur prize donated by Stadtsparkasse at a festive awards ceremony on 8 May 2025.

The Sinnack family business was honoured as Bocholt's " Company of the Year 2024" at a ceremony. The managing directors of the family business, Julius Peter Sinnack, Lena Sinnack and Jana Sinnack, were delighted to accept the honour. The award ceremony took place in front of 100 invited guests at Stadtsparkasse Bocholt Bocholt.

Sinnack, which consists of the companies Sinnack Backspezialitäten and Sinnack Snacks, has stood for quality, innovation and sustainable production in the baked goods industry since 1899. With state-of-the-art technology, resource-conserving processes and social responsibility, the company sets standards - not only in Bocholt, but throughout Europe. The award comes with prize money of 5,000 euros, donated by Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.

Flender receives Bocholt award for family friendliness

At the same time as the Entrepreneur Award, a special award recognises particularly family-friendly business concepts. In 2024, the Bocholt-based company Flender received the award as a family-friendly company. The jury recognised the holistic concept of family friendliness: from flexible working models and an in-house kindergarten to active support in all phases of life - Flender is exemplary in its efforts to reconcile work and family life, they said. The team led by HR Manager Daniel Mehari accepted the award and showed that family friendliness is a central component of the corporate culture.

About the Bocholt Entrepreneur Award

The price

Start: first in 1996

Rhythm: biennial, awarded in the following year

Endowment: € 5,000

The award winner undertakes to use this amount

a.) for the further training of its employees or

b.) for investments -in the environmental protection area of the company, -for the safety and protection of employees or -in science and research (innovations)

c.) as a tax-recognised donation for social, scientific or other charitable purposes

Additional: non-cash prize (sculpture by Bocholt artist Jürgen Ebert)

Award ceremony: As part of a public ceremony in which the achievements of the award winner are appropriately honoured with a specialist lecture.

Criteria for the award ceremony

  • Commitment to Bocholt as a business location and exceptional activities for Bocholt as a business location
  • Successful start-up or continuation of a business with above-average organisation
    new or increase in existing jobs and apprenticeships
  • Successful overall development of the company and special entrepreneurial achievements (e.g. successful acquisitions, crisis management, reorganisation, investment development)
  • Special achievements / activities in the areas of environmental protection, energy saving and resource conservation
  • Successful innovation, modernisation and/or exceptional achievements in the field of science and research (technology transfer)
  • Extraordinary social or cultural commitment. This includes in particular the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), i.e. the social responsibility of companies.
  • Service and customer proximity
    Examples:
    - Special customer service, special services, flexibility, constant contact
    - Customer proximity: absolute willingness to deal intensively with customers' wishes/requirements, both with in-house expertise and professional competence, intensive personal support, rapid response

At the jury meeting, each juror will justify their preference for one of the submitted proposals on the basis of the proposals submitted by the nominators, the corresponding justifications and the available competition documents. The proposals of the individual jury members are discussed until the jury has reached a unanimous decision, in case of doubt by majority vote. The members of the jury unanimously represent the decisions made by their jury.

The jury's decision remains secret until the award ceremony. Appeals against the jury's decision are excluded.

Self-application is excluded. Any person authorised to make a nomination may submit a nomination. Each proposal must be substantiated.
