Final Report on the Housing Programme 2022

Summing up after 4 years // A lot has been achieved // New set-up planned

In December 2018, the Housing Programme Bocholt 2022 was published for the city of Bocholt as a municipal action plan to continuously record progress in the area of housing development in Bocholt. With this, the city of Bocholt took up the challenge of creating attractive and at the same time affordable housing for various segments.

Various forms of housing implemented

After its publication in December 2018, the concept was updated annually in the following years. Finally, at the end of 2022, a final report was written in which, on the one hand, the previous plans were updated and, on the other hand, a summary was drawn and an outlook was given. The final report is available on the homepage of the city of Bocholt.

Summary

In addition to the update of the 37 plan areas from the 2018 publication, 36 areas have been newly included whose initiation for the urban land use plan procedure was decided in the course of the last few years. The new inclusion is particularly about development plans for internal development.

Larger residential areas such as Loikumer Weg, Schieve/ Fischerweg and An der Eschkante are also included in the housing programme.

City Planning Officer Daniel Zöhler is very pleased that many goals have been achieved here: "A lot has happened, a total of 40 development plans have become legally binding by the end of 2022, which is a lot." Some projects have already been implemented, such as the Essing Esch residential area, others are currently being implemented, such as Das Nordareal in the Kubaai area or the Weberquartier.

Various housing types have also been implemented since 2018. One challenge of the housing programme, for example, was the creation of price-linked housing. The 2018 publication identified a need for approximately 430 price-linked flats by 2035. Four years later, the need has largely been met through the conclusion of urban development contracts in which corresponding quotas for price-linked housing have been secured. Accordingly, there is still a need for about 100 price-linked flats by 2035.

In view of the programme, Zöhler is also very positive about the future: "In the coming years, the development of residential land and, in particular, internal development and redensification in Bocholt will continue. Housing development will continue to face great challenges in the coming years". Against this background, a new version of the housing construction programme is planned.
