Pupils collect donations for war graves care

Collection until the end of November // For peace and youth work

This year's collection for the care of war graves will run until the end of November. In Bocholt, too, students from secondary schools are taking part in the annual collection campaign of the German War Graves Commission.

The young people carry a blue, numbered collection card and walk the streets assigned to them.

The money is earmarked for the care and maintenance of war gravesites. A portion also goes to youth outreach. "For teenagers and young adults from all over Europe, organized by the War Graves Commission, camps are held during the vacations to discuss current political developments and show how important remembrance and work for peace is - in Europe and around the world," explains Frank Eßing from the city's cultural administration, who is in charge of the campaign.
