Poetic event (Ge)Dicht an die Nacht on 19 July 2025 // Submission deadline on 10 July 2025

The event "(Ge)Dicht an die Nacht" will take place on 19 July between 20:30 and 22:30 in the surroundings of the Bocholter Strandcafé. On this day, members of the Stadtensemble Münster will recite selected poetry by the light of candles and torches. Requests for recitals can be submitted now.

The special film "Surf on, Europe!"

Extraordinary documentary film on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 // 8 pm at the Kinodrom // Admission 7 euros

On 27 May, the city of Bocholt will be presenting a documentary about three surfing enthusiasts in the "The Special Film" series, which impressively highlights the social and political challenges in modern Europe. The "EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt" is a co-operation partner and offers the opportunity for a discussion afterwards if interested.

Riga Committee: City alliance turns 25 years old

Unique association keeps the memory of Jewish fellow citizens alive in their home towns and in Latvia

On 23 May 2000, 13 major cities founded the German Riga Committee together with the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V. (German War Graves Commission) in Berlin. 25 years later, 80 cities belong to this alliance, which is unique in Europe for its culture of remembrance. The city of Bocholt has been a member since 2001.

The special film "The Shadowhunters"

On 13 May 2025, the city of Bocholt will be showing the atmospherically dense drama "The Shadowhunters" in the series "The Special Film". The film tells the story of a Syrian who pursues the torturers from his home country in Europe.

Free BOHJazz concert at LernWerk

Jazz guitarist Christian Hassenstein's trio plays every two months in the LernWerk annex in Bocholt. The guest soloist for this concert is jazz trumpeter Gerard Kleijn. The concert starts at 8 pm, admission is free.

Open garden gate: start of the season with the Omega association

Dates from May to August // Campaign starts with ornamental leek blossom

Once again this year, there will be an opportunity to explore gardens in the region. On Sunday, 18 and 25 May 2025, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., interested parties can visit the Paus & Zweil garden. The Reeh family will be joining the subsequent dates from 1 June. The garden visit is combined with a fundraising campaign for Omega Bocholt e.V.

Bocholt Puppetry Days 2025 - "Courageous as a lion"

On Thursday, 15 May 2025, the puppet show "Brave as a Lion" will take place at 2 and 4 pm in the Biemenhorst community centre (Willi-Pattberg-Ring 2). Children from the age of four can look forward to an adventurous puppet theatre. The puppet show will be performed by the "Puppet theatre Marmelock" from Hanover.
