Fire and rescue service

Rescue, extinguish, recover, protect ...

... that's our job! When it comes to fighting fires and providing assistance in the event of accidents and other public emergencies caused by natural events, explosions or similar incidents, the fire brigade is in demand.

The Bocholt fire brigade controls its operations from the control centre on Dingdener Straße. From here, the fire brigade goes out on rescue missions and coordinates emergencies. Because often every minute counts.

Even when there is no fire, the fire and rescue station is used for drills and training to be prepared for emergencies. Full-time firefighters ensure a quick response in an emergency. They are supported by more than 300 volunteer firefighters.

Operational Service

The term "operational service" covers a multitude of tasks whose primary goal is to provide the citizens of the city of Bocholt with an efficient fire brigade 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to rescue, extinguish, recover and protect.

The main tasks are in the area of technology, operation planning and preparation, the operative rescue service, personnel software and the office of the volunteer fire brigade.

The following are some explanations of the main activities:

  • Administration and planning of the staff of the operational service.
  • Preparation and maintenance of operational documents for the emergency services so that effective damage control can be carried out.
  • Determination of the fire brigade's alarm and deployment order, i.e. planning which vehicles and which personnel will be deployed to an incident.
  • Vehicle and equipment procurement and maintenance for the existing vehicles and equipment of the fire brigade and rescue service. Most of the maintenance and testing is carried out in the fire brigade's own workshops.
  • Ensuring operational health protection through the fire brigade's own safety officers.
  • Planning and control of communications. This includes, in particular, the processing of emergency calls and radio communication.
  • The office of the volunteer fire brigade serves as the central point of contact for all matters relating to the volunteer fire brigade.

Rescue service

The task of the rescue service is emergency rescue, patient transport and the care of a large number of injured or sick people in the event of extraordinary incidents. The Bocholt Fire Brigade has several ambulances and an emergency ambulance manned around the clock for emergency rescue.
