Announced demo in Bocholt: Information and important traffic information for next Saturday

Berliner Platz and part of the city ring road temporarily closed

Next Saturday, 27 January, an alliance under the motto "Bocholt bleibt bunt" is calling for a rally on Berliner Platz with a demonstration along the Bocholt city ring road. Numerous participants are expected. In close coordination between the city of Bocholt and the Borken district police, traffic and security measures have been established in advance to protect the rally.

The assembly is scheduled to begin at 2.00 pm on Berliner Platz and is expected to end at around 4.30 pm. Security and traffic management measures will be in place before and during the assembly.

Berliner Platz will be closed from 6.00 am

To ensure that the assembly runs smoothly, Berliner Platz will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6.00 a.m. on Saturday, 27 January 2024. Vehicles parked illegally may be towed away by a company commissioned by the city of Bocholt.

Three lanes of the city ring road closed between 1.30 p.m. and approx. 4.30 p.m.

Further necessary closure measures will take effect from 1.30 pm. A total of three (of four) lanes on the city centre ring road will be closed - two on the outer ring road and one on the inner ring road; this will be kept free for emergency vehicles and as a safety distance. Traffic on the inner lane will be stopped until the demonstration procession has passed, depending on the section of road.

At the beginning, a 30/45-minute rally is planned on Berliner Platz with speakers. The demonstration will then set off from Berliner Platz at around 2.30 pm and proceed along the outer ring road in the direction of Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße, Willy-Brandt-Straße, Ebertstraße, Theodor-Heuss-Ring, Ostwall, Nordwall and Meckenemstraße to the starting point at Berliner Platz. Police forces and municipal law enforcement officers will be on site to accompany the demonstration.

Before and during the demonstration, considerable traffic obstructions are to be expected in the city centre as well as on the main access roads - Dingdener Straße, Werther Straße, Dinxperloer Straße, Adenauerallee and Münsterstraße - and secondary roads. Information boards on the access roads will indicate the closures in the city centre area.

All road closures will be lifted immediately after the end of the demonstration.

Recommendation: Travelling on foot, by bike or bus

Road users familiar with the area are advised to avoid the city centre during this period. Due to the closure of Berliner Platz, numerous car parks will be closed. Use of the Shopping Arkaden multi-storey car park will be restricted during the event.

The city of Bocholt and the police recommend that participants in the demonstration travel by foot, bicycle or city bus.
