Closure of the Burloer Weg / Büningweg junction due to sewer work from 14 January 2026.Sewer renovation on Büningweg starts in January
Closure of the Burloer Weg and Büningweg junction from 26 January // Diversion for motorised traffic and city buses will be set up // Pedestrians and cyclists will continue to pass through
The city of Bocholt is expected to begin necessary sewer renovation measures in the streets Büningweg and Hohe Giethorst on 26 January 2026. The work will begin at the intersection of Burloer Weg and Büningweg, which will have to be fully closed for this purpose. The Mobility and Environment Department has issued the relevant authorisations, although the actual start date depends on the weather conditions.
The renovation of the municipal sewer network serves to secure the infrastructure in the long term and will start in the first construction phase directly in the heavily frequented junction area. For the duration of this work, a full closure to motorised traffic is unavoidable in order to ensure a smooth and safe work process on the construction site. Citizens travelling on foot or by bicycle, however, will still be able to pass through the construction site area.
For other traffic and the city bus, an official diversion route has been signposted via Barloer Weg, Kurzer Weg and Unter den Eichen in both directions. As soon as the work at the junction has been completed, the construction site will move further into Büningweg.
The Mobility and Environment Department would like to point out that the planned date of 26 January is subject to weather conditions. Should frost or heavy rainfall prevent the work, the start of construction and thus also the start of the closure may be postponed accordingly. The city of Bocholt asks all road users for their understanding for the necessary restrictions during the construction phase.
