Deputy mayors

The (full-time) mayor is supported by the honorary deputy mayors in the fulfilment of his or her representative duties. For example, they take part in events on behalf of the mayor and give welcoming speeches. They are also members of Bocholt City Council and are elected from among its members.

Gudrun Koppers

Koppers

Gudrun Koppers is the first female deputy mayor.

Bocholt is a home of conviction for Gudrun Koppers. She moved here after her wedding because she felt at home in the city from the very first moment. Today, she is a permanent fixture in Bocholt's urban society and a passionate club member herself - whether it's climbing in the Alpine Club or singing in the St. Josef church choir and the "City Partnerships" choir.

In her office as 1st Deputy Mayor, she particularly appreciates the direct contact with the citizens. Visiting the many different associations and initiatives in Bocholt is very important to her. It is particularly important to her to recognise the valuable commitment of the many volunteers who enrich social life in the city with their time, passion and dedication.

Another focus of her work is international solidarity. As a member of two international societies and as a representative of the city council for the "BELC" (Building Europe with Local Councillors) network, Gudrun Koppers is a strong advocate of European values and the cultivation of friendly relations with Bocholt's twin towns.

Kerstin Erkens

Erkens

Kerstin Erkens is the second deputy mayor.

For Kerstin Erkens, the office is a matter close to her heart. As a native of Bocholt, she fulfils her duties with great gratitude and pride in her home town. Her mission statement is characterised by a clear attitude: open, approachable and always available to all citizens.

Personal dialogue takes centre stage for her. Kerstin Erkens is committed to a lively urban climate in which listening and cooperation are emphasised.

She is also a committed European beyond the city limits. For Kerstin Erkens, Europe is not a distant construct, but starts right on her doorstep - especially in her friendship with her Dutch neighbours.

Michael Wiesmann

Wiesmann

Michael Wiesmann is the third deputy mayor.
