Münsterstraße to be partially narrowed from next week due to pipe-laying works
Work on the new charging station between Westfälische Hochschule and Uhlandstraße // Temporary half-lane closures from 22 June
From next Monday, 22 June 2026, road users on Münsterstraße should expect traffic disruption in some sections. Due to the laying of a new power line for a charging station, the carriageway between Westfälische Hochschule and the junction with Uhlandstraße will be partially narrowed to a single lane in some sections. The infrastructure works are expected to last until 31 July 2026.
The works will cover the entire stretch of road from Westfälische Hochschule to the junction of Münsterstraße and Uhlandstraße. A total of eight targeted boreholes will be drilled as part of the project. To minimise disruption to traffic flow, the worksite will be organised as a series of daily mobile worksites. The affected areas will only be set up for the duration of a working day and will be reopened to traffic after work has finished.
As the civil engineering works are taking place in the vicinity of the existing footpaths and cycle paths, adjustments to the traffic management are unavoidable. To ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists, traffic in the respective work zones will be diverted onto the carriageway. To this end, Münsterstraße will be narrowed on one side in sections. A remaining carriageway width of three metres ensures that motor vehicle traffic can continue to pass the work sites in both directions. On the days when work is taking place opposite, traffic heading into town will not be permitted on the streets "Im Osteresch" and "Kochenheimstraße%$.
