Music school children give samples of the new musical

Saturday, 22 April, from 11 a.m. at Neutorplatz

Tomorrow, Saturday 22 April 2023, children from the Bocholt-Isselburg musical group will present excerpts from their new musical entitled "UFO - kein Wunsch ist schnuppe" (UFO - no wish is indifferent) in public at the Neutorplazu in Bocholt city centre (in front of the Stadtsparkasse). The performance begins at 11 am.

"UFO - no wish is too small" is the name of the current children's musical of the Bocholt-Isselburg Music School. Under the direction of music school teacher Stefanie Bergmann, over 50 children aged five to 17 have been rehearsing every week for almost a year in the auditorium of the South East School Centre in Bocholt. The "Jekits Choir" of the Maria Montessori School in Bocholt is also participating again.

And this is what the play is about: In the year 2164, five friends go on a weekend trip to the space station "Overfly 2". There, the young space tourists are offered an unusual programme: "Space Dance", "Space Bungee", "Space's Next Top Model". A special attraction: small space scooters that can be rented for short trips into space. On the ride in one of these mini spaceships, they encounter a mysterious UFO. They manage to trick the scooter's autopilot. Driven by curiosity and a thirst for adventure, they pursue the UFO, getting further and further away from the space station. A dreamlike trip that soon turns into a nightmare.

"UFO - Kein Wunsch ist schnuppe" is a turbulent play about adventure and longing for the unknown, about shooting stars and wishes, loneliness and sadness, joy and love - a trip through the cosmos of human emotions. Fittingly, a rousing "spacey" music with pop and jazz touches by musical author Gerhard A. Meyer.

"There are many children who are already familiar from the last musicals," reports musical director Stefanie Bergmann, "but also many children who will be on a big stage for the first time. "With our little taster on Saturday in front of the Stadtsparkasse, we will show small excerpts from our play," says Bergmann, looking forward to the performance.
