The campaign was part of European Mobility Week (EMW), an annual campaign organised by the European Commission, which calls on cities and municipalities across Europe to focus on sustainable mobility. Under the motto "Mobility for all", this year's focus was on topics such as accessibility, participation and fair mobility.
Citizens across Europe were able to register and count their daily steps using the WALK15 app. In Bocholt, numerous participants took part in this European participatory campaign for the first time. The winner from Bocholt, Sandra Engenhorst, achieved over 93,000 steps - an average of more than 13,000 steps per day. She covered this distance as a matter of course in her everyday life, without any additional training.
Sonja Wießmeier, Head of EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt, presented the winner with a Europe T-shirt in recognition of her achievement.
