Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact are people who are actively involved in communicating European climate policy in their communities and networks, inspiring others and supporting concrete action. They help to raise awareness of climate change and motivate people to take action.

Tasks and commitment

The Climate Pact Ambassadors explain and communicate to participants what causes climate change, how it affects our lives and what solutions are available. They encourage neighbours, communities, organisations and authorities to take effective steps to protect the climate and share their own experiences and projects.

They also represent the Pact at local, national and European events, organise workshops, peer parliaments or information events and initiate practical actions such as planting days or car-free initiatives. Another focus is on networking: ambassadors promote dialogue between climate protection actors, decision-makers and citizens in order to learn from each other and pass on successful solutions.

Strengthening Europe's largest climate movement

With the European Climate Pact, the European Commission is creating a platform for everyone who wants to contribute to achieving the climate targets - regardless of whether they are already active in environmental projects or want to get involved. The aim is to further expand Europe's largest climate movement and to shape a sustainable future together.

Learn, shape and become visible

Participants benefit from exclusive training programmes offered by the European Climate Action Academy, specialist events and workshops at local, national and European level. They gain access to tools, guidelines and training to strengthen their skills in climate policy, citizen participation and sustainable development. They can also showcase their own projects through the European Commission's official communication channels - from the Climate Pact website to high-level EU events.

Recognition and support from the European Commission

The European Commission officially recognises the ambassadors' commitment and supports them in implementing local and international initiatives. Country coordinators support the ambassadors in translating knowledge into concrete climate protection measures.

Who can apply?

The Climate Pact is looking for people who are willing to lead the way as changemakers in their communities - whether as community or organisational leaders, mayors, educators, researchers, influencers or committed citizens. Applications are particularly welcome from people who are committed to social inclusion, poverty reduction or the protection of vulnerable groups and who want to bring climate protection to less involved population groups.

Applicants must hold a valid residence permit from an EU member state, apply as an individual (not on behalf of an organisation) and provide evidence of their personal commitment to climate protection. People with a history of environmental offences or so-called "greenwashing" are not eligible to apply.

It's worth taking part: the European Climate Pact ambassadors are actively involved in shaping Europe's ecological transition - with local roots and a Europe-wide network.
