Jazz concert with tenor saxophonist Joao Driessen

The trio of jazz guitarist Christian Hassenstein plays every two months as part of the musical culture series "BOHJazz" in the Skylounge of the LWL-Textilwerk Bocholt. At the upcoming concert on Thursday, 2 May, the Dutch tenor saxophonist Joao Driessen will be the guest soloist. The concert starts at 8 pm and admission is free. Visitors can look forward to the unique sounds of this classical jazz combo.
Joao Driessen was born in Amsterdam and comes from a musical family. He spent most of his life in London, where as a young musician he had the opportunity to develop on the violin, piano and later on his main instrument - the saxophone.
At the age of 18, he moved to Amsterdam to study jazz at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. During this time he gained experience and gained a reputation as an outstanding saxophonist.
Joao Driessen is known for his captivating playing and impressive musicality and regularly attracts attention in the Netherlands with concerts.
Current bands include the Benoit Martiny Band (1st prize winner of the Amersfoort Jazz Talent Award), BvR Flamenco Big Band, Acquaphonica, the Blazin' Quartet, the Taco Nieuwenhuizen Group and the Dutch Concert Big Band. As well as performing throughout Europe, Joao and his band have also played concerts and festivals in Japan, China and Venezuela.
