Timo Sigmund is now practising at the market in Bocholt

Since 1 April 2025, 32-year-old internist Timo Sigmund has been practising in the GP practice of his father, Dr Björn Sigmund. Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff, together with Lisa Knuf from the mayor's office, officially welcomed the new doctor to Bocholt on the "Day of Family Medicine".

The city of Bocholt supports the practice with financial assistance and emphasises the importance of young doctors for local healthcare.

The Sigmund group practice is located in modern, digitally equipped premises with a view of the market square and the historic town hall.

Timo Sigmund successfully completed his specialist training as an internist in November 2024. He previously worked at a hospital in northern Germany. The family has brought the young doctor back to Bocholt, and he has been practising with his father in their joint practice since April.

"We have a very close exchange, the cooperation works wonderfully", father Dr Björn Sigmund, member of the BOHRIS doctors' network, is also pleased. He plans to continue running the practice together with his son in the coming years.

"We are delighted that Timo Sigmund has decided to practise in Bocholt. Young talents like him show that the profession of GP remains attractive and sustainable and contributes significantly to the quality of life in our city", emphasised Mayor Kerkhoff. In the evening, the young doctor will introduce himself at the annual general meeting of the Bocholt-Borken Medical Association.
