Town hall renovation: Geothermal work at Berliner Platz starts in June
Explosive ordnance detection work planned // Renovation of the town hall with cultural centre
The first signs have now been erected on Berliner Platz to draw attention to upcoming work as part of the ongoing renovation of the town hall and cultural centre. From next week, parts of the square will be closed to traffic due to preparatory measures for geothermal drilling.
The planned 69 boreholes will be used to utilise geothermal energy to supply the town hall in the future. Before the actual geothermal drilling can begin, explosive ordnance probing will first be carried out to test the subsoil.
The exploratory work will begin on 2 June 2025 and will be carried out in a total of four sections. The closures at Berliner Platz will be carried out in sections accordingly.
