Roof and façade greening

Get green on the roof!

Don't want black bitumen sheets and gravel on the roof? Then get the green on your own roof!

Almost two million square metres of roof surfaces in Bocholt have a slope of less than 10 degrees - and are therefore potentially suitable for greening.

And green roofs are good for the climate - in many ways. They bind dust and pollutants, humidify the air. In hot summers, which will increase due to the climate, they have a cooling function for the building. During rainy periods, they retain rainwater and delay its runoff.

This is another function that will become increasingly important in the future due to the climate. Heavier rainfall and an increase in rain events have already been predicted in model calculations for the Bocholt area for the future.

We help with greening

As a "NRW climate municipality", the city of Bocholt is committed to mitigating these future effects as far as possible with foresight. With funding from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the environmental department of the city of Bocholt was able to launch a new funding programme that provides attractive financial support for the installation of extensive green roofs as well as green facades.

For green roofs, up to 50 percent of the investment costs are subsidised, up to a maximum of 25 euros per square metre. The upper limit here is 5,000 euros. Green facades are subsidised with a maximum of 500 euros per building. Details can be found in the funding guidelines.
