FW Bocholt: Fire of a combine harvester

Bocholt fire brigade (ots) -

The Bocholt fire brigade was called out to a vehicle fire in Holtwick at 21:13 on Friday evening.
While operating a combine harvester in a field on the Hoves Esch road, the vehicle caught fire. The driver was able to steer the vehicle to the edge of the field and escape unharmed. The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when the fire brigade arrived. Several teams wearing breathing apparatus prevented the fire from spreading to the field and extinguished the vehicle. The firefighters from the full-time fire station were supported by members of the volunteer fire brigade. A water tender was used to supply water in a shuttle service.
The Bocholt fire brigade was on site with 6 vehicles and 20 firefighters. Additional personnel manned the fire station on Dingdener Straße for the duration of the operation. The operation was completed after approx. 2 hours.
