As part of the "KINO Bocholt - the special film" series, the drama "Yellow Letters" will be screened on Tuesday 23 June 2026. The film depicts the impact of state repression on a married couple of artists. The loss of their professional livelihood is followed by the danger of losing each other as a couple. A universal story, starring Tansu Biçer and Özgü Namal and directed by İlker Çatak (The Teachers' Room). Berlin stood in for Ankara and Hamburg for Istanbul as film locations.
Derya and Aziz are a well-respected theatre couple in Ankara and lead a fulfilling life with their 13-year-old daughter. But following the successful premiere of their latest play, their lives are unexpectedly thrown into turmoil by arbitrary government action. Overnight, they lose their jobs and, with them, their livelihood. Now they face the challenge of reconciling their ideals and convictions with the real demands of life. Their sudden unemployment threatens not only their financial security but also their marriage. As they search together for new ways to continue their careers, they must grapple with the conflict between their ideals and the practical demands of everyday life. The external pressure and constant uncertainty are placing an increasing strain on their relationship.
The film runs for 128 minutes. It was directed by İlker Çatak. Trailers and tickets are available at www.kinodrom.de
