Great interest in the university counselling day at the vocational college

Over 80 counselling sessions for pupils // Exchange with universities and other stakeholders

The 24th Bocholt University Counselling Day last week for study and career guidance at the Berufskolleg am Wasserturm was a complete success. Numerous universities, universities of applied sciences and other stakeholders from the fields of education and counselling came together to provide comprehensive support to pupils in Q1 and Year 12 in planning their future.

This day is coordinated by the VHS Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg and the JUNGE UNI in Bocholt, which organise this day at the Bocholt schools on a rotating basis together with the organising association. The Rhede comprehensive school has also been involved for the past four years. The format is unique in NRW and is only organised in a similar way by professional bachelor fairs in some major cities.

In 88 counselling sessions with over 1,000 participants, attendees gained valuable insights into degree programmes, dual training paths and career prospects. The close cooperation between the institutions enables particularly practical and individual counselling not only on study subjects, but also on financing studies, part-time studies and bridging programmes such as the FSJ and stays abroad, which met with great interest and a positive response. Pupils were able to ask specific questions during their counselling sessions and at the information exchange.

The counselling day once again showed how important the exchange between schools, universities and other partners is in order to provide young people with the best possible support on their path to university and a career. This year, 15 partners took part, including the University of Münster, the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen Recklinghausen Bocholt, the Employment Agency, the City of Bocholt, Münster University of Applied Sciences, TU Dortmund University, the University of Applied Sciences for Finance NRW, the Federal Police Academy, RWTH Aachen University, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences NRW, Bocholt District Court, Vamos Juntos, FOM Wesel and the University of Twente.
