Anniversary: 10 years of BOHJazz concerts
10th anniversary of the jazz series // In the annexe at LernWerk, Herdingstr. 5, entrance from the Aa side // Free entry
Jazz guitarist Christian Hassenstein's trio performs every two months at the Appendix, the annexe of the LernWerk. As part of the tenth-anniversary celebrations of the popular BOHJazz series, German jazz trombonist Ludwig Nuss will be appearing as a guest soloist on Thursday 2 July. The concert begins at 8.00 pm; admission is free. Visitors can look forward to extraordinary sounds and the unique dynamics of this exciting musical combination.
Ludwig Nuss studied jazz trombone with Jiggs Whigham in Cologne and passed his concert examination with distinction. He then worked as a freelance musician in Cologne's studio scene and contributed to numerous productions for radio, television and recorded media.
As lead trombonist and jazz soloist with the WDR Big Band Cologne, and for four years as a member of the SDR Big Band Stuttgart, Nuss has established a firm place for himself in the German and European jazz scene. He performs both in a duo with pianist Michael Abene and with his trio, comprising John Goldsby and Benyamin Nuss, as well as in quartet and quintet formations. In addition, he features as a sideman on many national and international recordings.
Alongside his work as a bandleader, Ludwig Nuss is deeply committed to promoting young talent. He teaches jazz trombone, leads workshops and was formerly a professor at the Jazz-Institut Berlin.
The concert is supported by Stadtsparkasse Bocholt.
