Where to put small electrical appliances?

ESB information stand on Tuesday, 5 September from 9-12 hrs on St. George's Square

Where to put small electrical appliances such as razors, hair dryers, toasters or smartphones? Never put them in the residual waste. The Entsorgungs- und Servicebetrieb Bocholt (ESB) provides information. On Tuesday, 5 September, ESB waste advisor Petra Tacke will be offering an information stand on the subject of recycling small electrical appliances at St. Georg-Platz. From 9-12 a.m. she will provide information for citizens. Appliances can also be handed in at the information stand.

Before handing in, batteries must be removed and handed in separately.

Out of the drawer and cellar

Although collection volumes are steadily increasing, far too many small electrical appliances still end up in the dustbin and languish in the cellar or in drawers. One of the aims of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act is to ensure that no more electrical appliances end up in the dustbin. One reason is that discarded small electrical appliances contain valuable precious metals as well as substances that are hazardous to the environment and health, such as heavy metals. Tacke: "With professional recycling, the toxins are safely disposed of and the raw materials recovered."

Drop-off points for electrical appliances

In addition to the information stand at the waste advice centre, small electrical appliances can be disposed of free of charge at the ESB recycling centre (Schaffeldstraße 74) during opening hours. Batteries and accumulators must be removed beforehand and disposed of separately. Information at www.bocholt.de/wertstoffhof.
