Aasee Festival Bocholt 2026 - summer highlight with a new concept for more safety and cleanliness

2023-08-12_Aaseefestival0007

Bocholt. Summer sounds, relaxing hours by the water and a festival atmosphere in the open air: when the music starts up again at the bathing bay of the Bocholt Aasee, it's time for the Bocholt Aasee Festival. For three days, the area becomes a lively meeting place for families, friends and music enthusiasts. Visitors can look forward to a free stage programme - presented by RADIO WMW - with great live bands and DJs, a large children's play area and a wide range of food trucks and refreshing drinks.

In recent years, the Aasee Festival has established itself as a real summer highlight for Bocholt. At the same time, visitor numbers and usage intensity have increased significantly. In particular, the extremely high volume of waste and safety-related aspects due to the large number of handcarts, cooler bags, sack trucks, chairs, tables and other bulky items brought along make it necessary to adapt the concept.

New safety and site concept

In order to keep the event safe, clean and family-friendly in the future, the festival site will be fenced in for the first time this year. Access will be via several entrances where bag checks will be carried out.

The following regulations apply to items brought onto the festival site:

  • One rucksack or bag with a maximum of 1 litre of drinks (NO glass!) per person, snacks & picnic blankets are permitted
  • Baby food and special food required for children with illnesses may be brought along
  • Glass bottles, hard plastic boxes and bicycle baskets are not permitted
  • Handcarts, tables, chairs, barbecues & other bulky items are prohibited
  • Catering plates or food from delivery services may not be brought onto the site

- Carrying weapons of any kind and objects that can be used as weapons or throwing, slashing or stabbing implements is prohibited.

These measures are intended to significantly reduce the amount of waste, maintain the cleanliness of the meadow, beach, flowerbeds and lake and, above all, ensure the safety of all guests.

Programme and activities

A varied music programme will ensure a great atmosphere on all days: live bands will bring a real festival feeling to the stage with energetic performances, while DJs will round off the programme with varied sets and bring the evenings to a close. The large, free children's play area with numerous attractions provides entertainment for the youngest guests. Sunday is all about the family - in the afternoon, creative hands-on activities, exciting games and lots of fun await young festival fans. An extensive selection of drinks will be available, as well as culinary diversity: food trucks will offer a varied selection to suit every taste. The Bocholter Strandcafé will also be there again with its popular food and drinks. In addition, a small but exquisite live music programme will be presented on a small stage in the Strandcafé area.

With the adapted concept, the Aasee Festival remains an attractive and lively midsummer meeting place - but now with improved framework conditions that ensure cleanliness, safety and quality of stay for all visitors in the long term.
