Bocholt City Run: Everything you need to know about the anniversary edition
What athletes and spectators need to know
On 9 May 2026, the Bocholt City Run celebrates its 25th anniversary. The starting signal will be given at 17:00 in front of the historic town hall. Over 5,000 runners and thousands of spectators are expected - for a unique atmosphere in the city centre.
Runs & times
- 17:00 - 2.5 km school run (girls)
- 17:30 - 2.5 km school run (boys)
- 18:00 - 5 km school run
- 19:00 - 5 km run for everyone
- 20:00 - 10 km fun run and road race
All routes follow the tried and tested circuit through the city centre.
Starting documents
Distribution at the Mariengymnasium (Schleusenwall 1):
- Friday, 8 May: 17:00 - 19:00
- Saturday, 9 May: from 15:00
The race number includes timekeeping and a new anniversary design for the first time.
Important notes
- Running with headphones is not permitted (disqualification)
- Parents are not allowed to accompany children (there are school escorts for this)
- Access to the start area only via St.-Georg-Platz
The Citylauf is a very special flagship event for Bocholt.

Arrival & Parking
- Road closures from Saturday afternoon in the city centre (note: the weekly market will take place as usual until 1 pm)
- Car parking facilities, among others:

- Honours directly after the races in the finish area
- Special classification: fastest Bocholter & fastest Bocholter
- Anniversary running shirts available
- Certificates online from 10 May
Party & celebration hotspots
- Catering and drinks in many areas of the city centre (Ravardistraße, Gasthausplatz, Marktplatz and many more)
- Live moderation, DJs and music along the route
- Samba bands, hands-on activities and children's programme
Organisation & safety
The Citylauf is jointly organised by the City Sports Association, the City of Bocholt, City Marketing and Sportfreunde 97/30 Lowick. Numerous helpers and organisations ensure that everything runs smoothly. Safety is a top priority - comprehensive measures are implemented in close coordination with the authorities.
