Bocholt supports Ukraine with decommissioned fire engine

Emergency vehicle for Ukraine // Transfer in the coming weeks

As part of the solidarity partnership with the Ukrainian city of Verkhniodniprovsk, the city of Bocholt is handing over a decommissioned fire engine to the Blue-Yellow Cross Association, which is organising its transport to Ukraine. The vehicle will continue to be used for rescue and firefighting.

The decommissioned fire engine was taken over this week by representatives of the Blue-Yellow Cross Association, Yurii Yakubovskyi and Oleksandr Shyshkin, at the fire station on Dingdener Straße.

The Cologne-based organisation is now responsible for transporting the vehicle to Ukraine. Yakubovskyi expressed his thanks at the handover: "We thank you very much on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Ukraine."

Bocholt's First City Councillor and Head of the Fire Department Björn Volmering also took part in the event. "We hope that the emergency vehicle will continue to provide good service in Ukraine", said Volmering.

The vehicle handed over is a decommissioned fire engine from the Bocholt fire brigade, which was located at the Suderwick fire station. It is equipped with hoses, a pump system, folding stretchers and a scaling ladder and has space for nine firefighters. The city of Bocholt is thus sending a further signal of practical solidarity as part of the existing town twinning with Verkhniodniprovsk.
