Deep Purple, along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, are considered pioneers of classic hard rock. With titles such as Black Night, Smoke on the Water, Child in Time and Burn, the band created classics for eternity that have lost none of their freshness and authenticity even after 50 years.
Purple Rising skilfully interprets the music of Deep Purple with virtuosity, in the style of the seventies: furious improvisation and wild duels between guitarist Joachim Villwock and keyboardist Andreas König, who has already performed on stage with Deep Purple legend Jon Lord, allow songs such as Child in Time and Space Truckin' to break the 20-minute mark. The charismatic, powerful-voiced frontman Michael Baum masters the balancing act between all the Deep Purple singers with apparent ease. Just like the original in 1970, every concert becomes a unique experience.
However, Purple Rising not only knows how to inspire musically, but also with an energetic stage show on original instruments. Marshall towers, a Ludwig drum set, a Hammond C-3 with two Leslies and a Fender Stratocaster are just as essential for an authentic performance as the guitarist's extravagant show interludes, which bring back memories of the stage presence of the young Ritchie Blackmore.
