Open Garden Gate in Bocholt
Once again this year, there will be an opportunity to explore gardens in the region. On Sunday, 18 and 25 May 2025, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., interested parties can visit the Paus & Zweil garden. The Reeh family will be joining the subsequent dates from 1 June. The garden visit is combined with a fundraising campaign for Omega Bocholt e.V.
Start of the season together with Omega
The "Open Garden Gate" will kick off the new season on Sunday, 18 and 25 May 2025 to mark the current impressive blooming of ornamental leeks. Anyone who wants to enjoy the lush flowers is welcome to visit the garden of Susanne Paus and Peter Zweil, Im Osteresch 7.
According to the organisers, ornamental leeks are very popular due to their decorative, mostly purple-coloured inflorescences. The stately bulbous plant is accompanied by early perennials such as columbine, night violet, meadow chervil and cranesbill.
The terrace café invites you to linger and enjoy. At the opening on 18 May, it will traditionally be handed over to Omega Bocholt e.V.. All proceeds from the café counter will go to the organisation.
In previous years, the volunteers have been able to enjoy a great willingness to donate thanks to the same commitment, which they would like to build on. The hospice association supports and relieves seriously ill and dying people and their relatives.
Further dates
A garden in Hamminkeln will be taking part again this year on 1 June. The Reeh family's newcomer bears the promising name "Rosenremise" and is located at Kesseldorfer Str. 47. Many inspiring garden ideas have been realised on a former meadow plot measuring 7000 square metres. So you can be excited!
Subsequent dates on which you can visit both gardens are Sunday 27 July and 17 August in both gardens. As always, the "Open Garden Gate" campaign also serves a good cause. Half of the entrance fee of €3 per person, children free, will be donated to Omega and FASD Deutschland e.V..
Garden owners can join in
"We would be delighted to have more gardens join us", says Susanne Paus, who has been organising the campaign for over 20 years. "Because there are many gardening enthusiasts who come to Bocholt from the Münsterland and Ruhr regions on the visiting days specifically because of the gardens.
They are delighted if they can visit several gardens at once, as has always been the case in previous years." So if you are a garden owner and would like to take part in one of the dates at short notice, please contact the organiser at bluehende-paradiese(at)gmx(dot)de.
