Bocholt neighborhoods wanted for e-car sharing experiment

Electric cars are on the rise: Neighborhoods in Bocholt can now try out this trend and share a car over a test period. The prerequisite is participation in the project "Neighborhood car sharing in residential areas". Neighborhoods from the outer districts of Bocholt (!) that are interested in becoming part of an innovative mobility project are being sought.

The city of Bocholt, which supports the project of the LEADER initiative - a regional management for projects that promote rural areas - is calling for participation.

Within a pilot phase, selected neighborhoods or districts are to be equipped with two e-cars each and the corresponding charging infrastructure. Associations of six to ten households in spatial proximity (same/adjacent streets) can apply. The prerequisite is that the interested neighborhoods submit a short application form digitally to the regional management by October 30, 2022. Neighborhoods from the core city of Bocholt cannot apply.

"From Rhede, Velen/ Ramsdorf and Borken, some neighborhoods have already applied in the first application phase, which ended in August. In order to also be able to gather car sharing experience in the other two municipalities of the LEADER region, the application phase for the outskirts of Bocholt and Isselburg will be extended once again," says Alexander Jaegers from the regional management. "With the help of the project, a good alternative to a second or third car is to be created within the pilot phase. This allows households to gain experience with car sharing and also e-mobility. Especially for few-drivers, this alternative form of mobility is an economical concept," he adds. Bocholt's "core city" is not part of the area covered by the LEADER funding program.
