Music school

Music school Bocholt-Isselburg

Welcome to the world of music: children, young people and adults are taught at the music school. Whether beginner, novice or advanced - the music school has interesting programmes for every group.

Subjects at the music school

For children of pre-school age (aged 4 and over), the Bocholt Isselburg Music School offers "Early Musical Education% $. Through movement and dance, singing, speaking and basic instrumental playing, the programme fosters the musicality of pre-school children, whilst also strengthening their creativity, self-confidence and personality.

The"Parent-Child Group" is a musical programme for children aged 2 to 3.5 years, accompanied by a parent or adult. The sessions introduce rhymes, nursery rhymes, finger plays and songs. These also serve as inspiration for musical activities at home. When the accompanying adult sings along, dances along, makes music and plays along, this encourages the children to experiment with their own voices, sounds and movement. Dances and circle games encourage interaction with other children.

The "Basic Music Education" programme is aimed at children aged approximately 6 and over who wish to continue their general music education following early childhood music education, or who wish to start without any prior knowledge. Through singing, rhythmics, body percussion, Orff instruments (xylophone, metallophone, small percussion instruments, etc.) and movement, we work with the children to create songs and stories and introduce them to the basics of music theory. This helps to further develop their motor skills and a good sense of rhythm.

Interested parents and children can get to know the programme with no obligation through free taster sessions.

The"Instrument Carousel" is aimed at primary school-aged children who may already have attended early music education, want to learn an instrument, but cannot decide which one they like best.

In small groups, the children get to know the flute, double bass, French horn and clarinet in a playful way under the guidance of the music school's specialist teachers. Groups of up to four children move on to the next instrument approximately every four to five weeks. The children are even allowed to take the instruments home to practise and try them out.

No prior experience is required.

Singers are always welcome to join the "Singing Stars" for children aged 6 and over, the "Young Voices" youth choir, or our "Singwerkstatt" for adult singers.

Events and concerts

The Bocholt-Isselburg Music School offers numerous concerts and events throughout the year. Pupils showcase their skills during music lessons, at the Mother's Day concert, the children's musical, the summer concert, the vocal recital, the brass matinee, and the atmospheric Advent and pre-Christmas concerts.

A particular highlight is the big music school festival. During the recital week "Musikschule in Concert%$, there are also many small concerts held at the LernWerk.

We are also regularly active outside the music school: in Bocholt's neighbourhoods, we provide musical entertainment at local festivals and events - fostering a vibrant sense of community in the town.
