Bocholt Puppetry Days 2024 - Rapunzel

On Sunday, 28 January, the puppet show "Rapunzel" will take place in the Alte Molkerei (Werther Straße 16). Children from the age of four can look forward to the beautiful and well-known fairy tale. There will be two performances, the first at 2.00 pm and the second at 4.00 pm. The puppet show will be performed by Lille Kartofler Figurentheater from Langenfeld.

The theatre interprets the classic fairy tale in a child-friendly way for a young audience, with plenty of funny scenes without losing the seriousness of the play.

The story is about a girl called Rapunzel, who lives with a fairy and is spoilt with toys and beautiful things. Rapunzel can enjoy a carefree childhood in the fairy's marvellous garden. After Rapunzel was born, her parents gave her to the fairy in return for a generous gift of Rapunzel's salad, which her mother was so fond of. As Rapunzel grows older, she wants to cross the narrow garden boundaries and see what else there is in the world. But the fairy forbids Rapunzel to do so again and again. The fairy locks Rapunzel in a high tower with no doors, only a small window at the top. Rapunzel's long hair is used to get up to Rapunzel. A prince, who had heard Rapunzel singing, followed the song and saw the tower. He climbs up to Rapunzel by her hair, they fall in love, but the fairy is full of anger and wants to separate them. How does the story continue, will Rapunzel and the prince meet again? Will there be a happy ending?
