A handshake has sealed many things. This was also the case with the unusual liaison between two groups that came together in England in the summer of 1984: Bronski Beat meets Gaelic folk or a boisterous gay and lesbian troupe from London meets striking Welsh miners. Irritations are inevitable when they first meet! But when the eccentric Jonathan shows the stiff-waisted Welsh what real disco feeling is, the ice seems to be broken. But the courageous city dwellers don't find a grateful ally in every Welshman, turning an entire village upside down. The group collects money for the pals in colourful buckets, colourfully opposing Margaret Thatcher's merciless policies. A special friendship develops between the new accomplices with historic consequences to this day.

This humorous and moving film follows striking miners in Wales in 1984, who surprisingly receive support from the LGTBQ scene. An unusual and socially controversial show of solidarity at the time.

The film lasts 120 minutes.

The film was directed by Matthew Warchus.

Trailers and tickets are available at www.kinodrom.de.
