Feeding birds in the city center of Bocholt causes problems
Also pigeons and rats are attracted // Current focus Liebfrauenplatz
Some animal lovers are currently scattering birdseed regularly and generously in Bocholt's city center. This has now been noticed by a member of staff of the waste disposal and service company (ESB), especially in the Liebfrauenviertel. Birdseed is being distributed there in large quantities - presumably to feed the songbirds.
Feeding attracts not only songbirds, but also pigeons. They leave behind a large amount of droppings that contaminate buildings and squares. In addition, pests such as rats are also attracted by the food that is laid out. If the grains settle in the joints, they can only be removed partially or not at all.
The ESB therefore appeals to the understanding of animal lovers to refrain from spreading bird feed in public areas in the future.
The city administration points out in this context that on the basis of the Bocholt local law the feeding of wild pigeons and ducks on public streets and squares is prohibited.
