Dieter Groß-Holtwick 40 years of public service
Dieter Groß-Holtwick of the Bocholt city administration will celebrate his 40th anniversary of service on February 1, 2022. His face is familiar to many Bocholters: For many years he has been the driver of the mayor's official car.
Whether former city directors such as Dr. Ralf-Peter von Ameln and Hans-Josef Dahlen, many honorary mayors and, of course, the former full-time mayors Klaus Ehling and Peter Nebelo or the current incumbent Thomas Kerkhoff: When the mayor's official car is on the road, Groß-Holtwick sits behind the wheel to drive the top officials of the city of Bocholt swiftly, safely and punctually to their official appointments.
Initially, Groß-Holtwick learned the trade of a car mechanic. After completing his basic military service, he joined the city of Bocholt as a worker at the Parks Department. He successfully passed the works examination and later the special motor vehicle driver examination. From 1991 onwards, he provided deputy driving services for the central administration before being taken on as a salaried car driver on June 1, 1996. Since then, he has been coordinating the motor pool.
