Born as a boy with the male name Aitor, the eight-year-old prefers to be addressed as Cocó or Lucia. Especially the women from three generations of this family have to question their values and attitudes against this background and learn to accept new things.

In this sensitive family drama about a little trans girl, director and screenwriter Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren succeeds in creating a precisely observed debut work dedicated to the complex topic of the search for one's own gender identity in childhood.

The drama "20,000 Types of Bees" premiered in the competition of the Berlinale 2023. Nine-year-old actress Sofía Otero became the youngest performer in the film festival's 73-year history to win the Silver Bear for Best Acting Performance.

The film lasts 127 minutes. Trailers and tickets are available at www.kinodrom.de.
