GesundheitsTALK: Topic dementia

Positive and supportive connection to people with dementia

Next Wednesday, 20 March, the second lecture in the GesundheitsTALK series, a cooperation between the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre (VHS), the BOHRIS doctors' network and the Bocholt Seniors' Advisory Council, will take place. Beate Dobner will speak on the topic "Dementia - The Great Unknown - Positive and Supporting Connections to People with Dementia". The venue is the Bocholt Media Centre, Hindenburgstr. 5 at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Many people diagnosed with dementia and their families are initially faced with a big question mark: What does the diagnosis mean? Understanding the disease helps to build a positive and supportive relationship with people with dementia.

The basis for this is the knowledge that the behaviour of a person with dementia, as different or difficult as it may sometimes be, has a meaning. In addition to general explanations, the speaker Beate Dobner, who heads the regional office for ageing, care and dementia in Münster and the western Münsterland region, will give a number of tips to make everyday life easier. There will be time for a Q&A session afterwards.

Admission fees will be waived in favour of a fundraising campaign for the Lichtblick e.V. association. Seat reservations are linked to registration at www.vhs-bocholt.de. However, it is also possible to attend the event spontaneously.
