Traffic regulations and market relocation for the Bocholt funfair

On the occasion of the Bocholt funfair, there may be traffic obstructions from Tuesday, 10 October at around 9.00 pm. Particularly in the area of the junction Meckenemstraße/ Westend / Dinxperloer Straße and also at the junctions along Meckenemstraße, traffic may become congested as the traffic routing and traffic lights will be changed at these points. Meckenemstraße will be fully closed between Hohenzollernstraße and the Westend junction.

Passes for residents | Meckenemstraße bypasses

Residents of Meckenemstraße and visitors to the doctors' surgeries will only be able to access the Meckenemstraße area from the direction of the shopping arcades with their cars using transit tickets. Residents' parking permits have already been distributed by Stadtmarketing Bocholt. The Meckenemstraße area from Bärendorfstraße to Westend may only be used by police and fire brigade emergency services. Drivers who are familiar with the area are asked to avoid the city centre area and to use the bypass roads. The closure of Meckenemstrasse will be lifted again on Tuesday, 17 October at around 6.00 pm.

Traffic obstructions | Parking

In the past, there have been traffic obstructions in the side streets due to illegal parking. This made bus traffic considerably more difficult. It was sometimes impossible for rescue vehicles of the fire brigade to get through. We therefore ask you to park only in authorised parking areas. In order to avoid problems with the police or the towing service, visitors arriving by car are asked to use the centrally located multi-storey car park "Am Nähkasten", the multi-storey car park of the Shopping Arkaden, as well as the underground car park of the Stadtsparkasse Bocholt and the car park at Liebfrauenplatz.

Bocholt city buses | special timetable

The StadtBuses will run special shifts for the funfair between 13 and 16 October 2023. All lines will run at the usual frequency (line C13 at 20/40 minute intervals | lines C7, C8 and C11 at 60 minute intervals) until late at night. Separate notices at each stop in the city centre and separate timetables on www.stadtbusbocholt.de point out the additional service. In some cases, there are even additional vehicles. To get to Bocholt from the Münsterland region, you can take the S75 from Münster via Borken to Bocholt, the R51 from Coesfeld via Borken, the 64 from Wesel and the 61 from Rees, the RE 19 - Rhein Ijsel-Express and the "Baumwollexpress X80" from Bocholt via Vreden, Ahaus, Gronau to Bad Bentheim. However, the lines listed here do not offer any additional services during the fair.

Guarded bicycle parking spaces | Low fee

Visitors who decide to visit the funfair by bicycle can park their bikes for a small fee at the bicycle guards at the Diepenbrock School (Europaplatz), at the "Haus des Burgers" (Westend) and at the bicycle guard at the Liebfrauen Rectory (Langenbergstraße). At these locations the bicycles will be supervised by the scouts of the Association of Christian Scouts, the staff of the "Haus des Burgers" and the Liebfrauen altar boy community, which has already worked excellently in previous years.

Weekly market rescheduled

The weekly market will be held on Liebfrauenplatz from Thursday 12 October to Tuesday 17 October inclusive.

Kinodrom diversion / signposting

During the fair, the Kinodrom car park can only be reached via a diversion. The cinema diversion will be set up on a large scale and is signposted from all directions!
