The three-year training takes place in the municipal painter's workshop in Bocholt, with the vocational school training taking place at the Berufskolleg Bocholt-West and at the BBS-Ahaus.

The 1st year of training includes:

• Getting to know a wide variety of materials, paints, varnishes and putties and their characteristics
• Selecting, handling and maintaining tools and equipment
• Implementing protective measures for surfaces, components and objects that are not to be worked on
• Occupational safety and handling hazardous substances

The 2nd year of training includes

• Getting to know different coating systems
• Design and maintenance measures
• Testing, evaluating and processing substrates
• Environmental protection
• Carrying out quality assurance measures
• Preparing activity reports, recording time and material consumption

The 3rd year of training includes

• Determining substrate damage and assessing it
• Producing painting, plastering and special techniques
• Corrosion protection measures and their application
• The preparation of colour designs and material plans

After completing vocational training, there are employment opportunities:

• in paint shops and
• in plastering companies
