Mayor presents 600th honorary activity card to Peter Heimbrock

22 Bocholt citizens honored for voluntary commitment

With the Bocholt Volunteer Card, the city of Bocholt has been honoring voluntary commitment to the community for years. Now the 600th card has been awarded. Mayor Thomas Kerkhoff presented it personally to Peter Heimbrock.

Heimbrock has been a volunteer at the Protestant parish of Bocholt-Apostelkirche for many years. The 50-year-old leads the church band there, plays the organ himself, and takes care of other work that comes up. During the Corona period, for example, the IT specialist helped to edit the Nativity play as a video, which took an estimated 200 hours of time. Heimbrock reported this during the small talk with Mayor Kerkhoff and Business Unit Manager Nina Kremer.

In addition to Heimbrock, a further 22 Bocholt citizens will be awarded the Bocholt honorary activity card, which, however, will not be handed over personally due to the pandemic, but will be sent out. Honored are: Sabine Teriete, Tanja Strate (both sewing group Westmünsterland e.V.), Elisabeth Renzel (Bocholter Bürgergenossenschaft eG), Leonie Vorfeld, Maria Helmes, Martin Schellen, Markus Buitink, Nico Weber, Marc-Sandro Mielke, Leonie Wolff, Anja Vorfeld, Christian Drees, Anja Drees, Michael Katzek, Johannes Bauland (all DRK Stadtverband Bocholt), Erika Börger, Manfred Stanitzeck (both Kleingartenverein Am Stadtwald e.V.), Ludger Tepaße (St. Vinzenz Wohnverbund), Dirk Ratering (DJK TuS Stenern), Werner Tünte (Guter Hirte Bocholt), Andreas Pferdekemper (Malteser Hilfsdienst, Bocholt city association), Friedhelm Visser (Tafel Bocholt e.V.).

Since it began in 2013, 615 honorary activity cards have been awarded in Bocholt so far.

Background

The prerequisite for the award of the NRW honorary activity card, which has now been introduced in numerous municipalities in NRW, is an honorary or civic commitment of at least five hours per week or 250 hours per year on average, for example in a club, social institution or independent association.

The Ehrenamtskarte has been available in Bocholt since 2013 and is intended to express thanks and recognition to those who do not receive any financial benefits for their commitment in the form of lump-sum expense allowances or similar. A voluntary activity must have been carried out for at least one year and in the area of the city of Bocholt and must be confirmed by the office in whose area the activity takes place.
