New location for the "Helping Hands" furniture warehouse on Industriestraße

The voluntary organisation "Helfende Hände St. Josef Bocholt e. V.", which is involved in providing aid to Ukraine and social support, has moved into a new temporary location for its furniture store. The warehouse is now located in a municipal building at Industriestraße 7.

As part of his nationwide charity tour "Oli radelt", the dedicated cyclist Oliver Trelenberg made a stop in Bocholt yesterday, Thursday. Michael Wiesmann, deputy mayor of the city, welcomed the well-travelled athlete at the historic town hall to honour his extraordinary commitment to children and young people with serious and chronic illnesses.

The city of Bocholt has honoured numerous committed citizens for their voluntary work in the clubhouse of VfL 45 Bocholt. During a ceremony, Deputy Mayor Gudrun Koppers and Head of Division Christian Tewiele presented the nationwide volunteer and anniversary cards. The award is a sign of special recognition for people who work for the local community without pay.

Registration for the 2nd Bocholt club fair starts

Second edition of the association fair on 27 September 2026 in the Shopping Arcades // Digital registration phase for associations and initiatives from 4 May

Following the successful premiere in 2024, the city of Bocholt is organising the second Bocholt Association Fair in the Shopping Arcades on 27 September 2026. The event offers local organisations, associations and initiatives an eye-catching platform to present their work and attract new volunteers. Digital registration for the 70 or so stand spaces begins on 4 May.

NRW volunteer card: Access requirements are made easier

Reduction of minimum hours to four hours per week //

In NRW, the requirements for obtaining the volunteer card have been lowered in order to recognise civic commitment even more. From now on, just four instead of the previous five hours of weekly commitment will be enough to benefit from discounts. In addition to the classic card in cheque card format, volunteers can also apply for and manage the recognition digitally via an app.

Mouse Mobil: Volunteers provide support in everyday digital life

The Mouse Mobil initiative supports senior citizens in Bocholt with questions about smartphones, tablets and the internet. As the demand for personalised advice is constantly increasing, the volunteer group is now looking for more helping hands to strengthen the team. The free service enables older people to play an important role in an increasingly digitalised society.

Bocholt - 30 committed citizens have now been honoured with the North Rhine-Westphalia Volunteer Card at the volunteer agency on Langenbergstraße. The award was presented by Bocholt's mayor Christian Mangen, volunteer coordinator Francis Heitkötter and Christian Tewiele, head of the division for pensions, senior citizens, care and volunteering.

City bids farewell to volunteer coordinator Rainer Howestädt

Four decades with the city of Bocholt // Development of the volunteer agency

The city of Bocholt has retired Rainer Howestädt on 1 January 2026 after more than 40 years of service. As a long-standing volunteer coordinator, he was a central point of contact for Bocholt's associations. His work was particularly characterised by the promotion of civic engagement in the city.
