The special film "Murder on the Orient Express"
On Tuesday, 13 January 2026, the city of Bocholt will present the classic "Murder on the Orient Express" in the 2017 film adaptation by Kenneth Branagh as part of the "The Special Film" series. The director himself plays the leading role of Hercule Poirot. To mark the 50th anniversary of author Agatha Christie's death, the star-studded new film adaptation will be shown at the Kinodrom on Tuesday, 13 January 2026 at 8 pm. The novel of the same name dates back to 1934 and was first made into a film in 1974.
What begins as a lavish train journey through Europe quickly develops into one of the most stylish, exciting and thrilling mysteries masterfully told. Based on the book by bestselling author Agatha Christie, "Murder on the Orient Express" tells the story of thirteen strangers on a train, each of whom appears flawless, yet is suspected of having committed the murder of wealthy businessman Samuel E. Ratchett. The famous detective Hercule Poirot must fight against time to solve this mystery while the train is stuck in a snowdrift in the middle of nowhere.
The film lasts 115 minutes.

The film series "KINO Bocholt - the special film" has existed since 1977 as a cooperation between the Department of Education and Culture of the City of Bocholt and Kinodrom Bocholt. The aim is to make unusual films that are not otherwise shown in the regular programme accessible to a wide audience. As a rule, selected productions are shown every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Admission is €7.
