Intercultural Week 2026 will once again be held under the slogan "FOR THIS!"

A varied programme from 18 to 27 September 2026

The town of Bocholt invites you to Intercultural Week from 18 to 27 September. A total of 14 events offer the opportunity to learn about other cultures and develop new perspectives together. The programme has been organised by numerous local clubs, schools and initiatives with the aim of promoting intercultural dialogue.

German-British Society celebrates "80 years of friendship between North Rhine-Westphalia and the UK"

A talk with light refreshments and drinks in the Appendix at LernWerk Bocholt on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 7 pm // Organised by the German-British Society Bocholt e.V. and EUROPE DIRECT Bocholt

NRW is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. At the same time, the German-British Society is marking the "80 years of friendship between North Rhine-Westphalia and the United Kingdom. Dr Birgit Bujard will provide a historical context and look ahead at the LernWerk. The event, which includes refreshments, is free of charge. Bocholt Local Heritage Award 2026: 5,000 euros for local voluntary work

Application deadline: 11 September 2026 // Winners to be selected by a panel of experts by the end of the year // Focus on innovative voluntary work

The town of Bocholt is now inviting applications for the 2026 Heimatpreis. Local associations, initiatives and projects can apply for the prize money, which totals 5,000 euros. Through this initiative, the state recognises the diverse range of voluntary work carried out locally.

Registration for the 2nd Bocholt club fair starts

Second edition of the association fair on 27 September 2026 in the Shopping Arcades // Digital registration phase for associations and initiatives from 4 May

Following the successful premiere in 2024, the city of Bocholt is organising the second Bocholt Association Fair in the Shopping Arcades on 27 September 2026. The event offers local organisations, associations and initiatives an eye-catching platform to present their work and attract new volunteers. Digital registration for the 70 or so stand spaces begins on 4 May.

The new Syria: Donations handed over

340 euros for the SHIFAA campaign "Hand-in-Hand for Syria"

The city of Bocholt has now officially handed over a donation from the evening event "The New Syria" to the SHIFAA campaign "Hand-in-Hand for Syria". A total of 340 euros was raised through admission fees, catering and additional donations on the evening of the event. The money will support medical missions and urgent operations in Syria.

NRW volunteer card: Access requirements are made easier

Reduction of minimum hours to four hours per week //

In NRW, the requirements for obtaining the volunteer card have been lowered in order to recognise civic commitment even more. From now on, just four instead of the previous five hours of weekly commitment will be enough to benefit from discounts. In addition to the classic card in cheque card format, volunteers can also apply for and manage the recognition digitally via an app.

Mouse Mobil: Volunteers provide support in everyday digital life

The Mouse Mobil initiative supports senior citizens in Bocholt with questions about smartphones, tablets and the internet. As the demand for personalised advice is constantly increasing, the volunteer group is now looking for more helping hands to strengthen the team. The free service enables older people to play an important role in an increasingly digitalised society.

Europa-Union Bocholt e.V. receives award "Europaaktive Zivilgesellschaft"

Award ceremony in the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia on 25 February // Commitment to a vibrant, citizen-oriented, sustainable Europe

The Europa-Union Bocholt e.V. has been honoured by the North Rhine-Westphalian state government for its commitment as a "Europe-active civil society". The award ceremony took place on 25 February 2026 in the State Chancellery in Düsseldorf. The award honoured the association's decades of commitment to a vibrant, citizen-oriented and sustainable Europe.

VHS hands over donations to Omega Bocholt e.V.

Over a thousand euros donated as part of the series "Between departure and farewell"

Following a successful series of events entitled "Zwischen Aufbruch und Abschied" in November 2025, the Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg Adult Education Centre has now handed over two donations to Omega Bocholt e.V.

Bus service for the solidarity partner city of Verkhniodniprovsk

Bocholt aid delivery reaches Ukrainian twin town // Bus with four tonnes of relief supplies

The Ukrainian solidarity partner city of Verkhniodniprovsk has now received a bus with relief supplies. The vehicle was handed over directly to the local mayor at the Polish-Ukrainian border. The campaign was organised in close cooperation with the Eifellicht e.V. association and other voluntary supporters.
