"Berliner Platz" in Bocholt closed for parking with immediate effect

Bocholt is looking forward to the autumn fair from October 13-17. The big event will last one day longer this year because of the 800th city anniversary and will be a bit bigger, because additionally the square at the old fire station will become the fairground. The first showmen have already arrived in town. The funfair brings with it some traffic regulations.

Berliner Platz

Parking in large parts of the city center, especially on Berliner Platz, will no longer be possible. This is where the fairground exhibitors will begin setting up their rides and booths. This is pointed out by the city administration.

The parking lot at Berliner Platz will be completely closed as of today, Thursday, October 6. There is an absolute stopping ban. Signs point to the parking ban. The administration asks for attention. Unauthorized parked vehicles, which stand in the way of the fair construction, are towed away if necessary liable to pay the costs.

Berliner Platz will be reopened as a parking area after the fair on Wednesday, October 19, around noon, after the clean-up work has been completed.

Weekly market

The weekly market will be held on Liebfrauenplatz from Tuesday, October 11, to Tuesday, October 18, inclusive.

Parking spaces

In order to avoid problems with the police or the towing service, visitors arriving by car are asked to use the centrally located parking garage "Am Nähkasten", the parking garage of the Shopping Arkaden and the underground parking garage at Europaplatz.

In the past, parking violations and towing measures have often occurred in the area of Meckenemstraße (in front of Kinodrom / Volksbank). The outer ring is available to rescue vehicles so that they can quickly access the fairground in case of emergency. The city administration therefore advises not to park vehicles in the area of Meckenemstraße.

Bocholt city buses

The StadtBuses will run special shifts for the funfair between October 13 and 17, 2022. All lines will run at the usual frequency (every 30 or 60 minutes) until late at night. Separate notices at each stop in the city and separate timetables at www.stadtbusbocholt.de draw attention to the additional service. In some cases, there are even additional vehicles. To get to Bocholt from the Münsterland region, you can use the S75 line from Münster via Borken to Bocholt, the R51 from Coesfeld via Borken, the 64 from Wesel and the 61 from Rees, the RE 19 - Rhein Ijsel-Express and the "Baumwollexpress X80" from Bocholt via Vreden, Ahaus, Gronau to Bad Bentheim. Here, there is no additional offer for the listed lines to the fair. There is a mask obligation in all city and regional buses and also in the regional trains - also during the fair!

Bicycle parking

Visitors who decide to visit the Kirmes by bicycle can park their bikes for a small fee at the bicycle guards at the Diepenbrock School on Europaplatz, on the church grounds of St. Josef Church (Willy-Brandt-Strasse) and for the first time also at the "Haus des Burgers" (Westend). There they will be supervised by the scouts of the Association of Christian Scouts, the handball players of the TSV Bocholt, the altar servers of the parish of St. Josef and the staff of the "Haus des Burgers", which has already worked out excellently in previous years. For Bocholt fairgoers, this form of travel is certainly the most relaxed.
