Training programme for volunteers published

Volunteer Academy offers nine courses for the 2nd half of the year // Participation free of charge // Registrations as of now

Volunteers can receive free training at the Volunteer Academy in Bocholt. The programme for the second half of the year has now been published. The partners of the network "engagiertestadt Bocholt" have put together nine interesting topics.

The programme is available in public places and can also be found at www.wir-fuer-bocholt.de/freiwilligenakademie. Registrations are possible as of now.

Programme for the 2nd half of 2023

The new programme takes up current topics and proven training courses and qualifications that are in high demand. Qualifications for reading mentors, neighbourhood helpers and dementia partnerships are offered again.

Furthermore, the seminars "What Mohammed learned from the Christians", "Chat-GPT - artificial intelligence" and "Improving our digital competence - navigation apps and dealing with smart media" address issues that many people are currently dealing with.

The programme also includes the "Prevention training: abuse of power and sexualised violence", which is necessary for many voluntary positions but also very important in general. The programme will be rounded off in November 2023 with the seminars "Glückspilze und Giftzwerge" and "Achte mal auf dich und gesetzze Grenzen" - offers that specifically support the work of volunteers.

Proven quality and high quality speakers

"We have once again put together an interesting programme," explains Rainer Howestädt from the Bocholt Volunteer Agency on behalf of all those involved. "In doing so, we were able to draw on our own experience and a high standard of quality from the qualifications developed locally and also attract very competent speakers. Thanks to our own efforts and the support of our sponsoring partners, the offer is again completely free of charge. A circumstance to which we attach great importance."

Additional seminars for "reading patrons"

"A perennial favourite is the qualification as reading mentors. The demand is so great that there is always a waiting list. This half-year, the waiting list has become full after the flyer was printed and the seminar on 16 September is already fully booked," Howestädt is pleased to say. "However, due to the great demand, we will already offer the next qualification on 2 March 2024."

About the training programme

The cooperation project "Volunteer Academy Bocholt" has been in existence for 7 years now. Since then, a bundled programme of further training, qualifications and other events for associations, organisations and volunteers has been published every six months.

Thanks to the support of Stadtparkasse Bocholt and Volksbank Bocholt e.G., these courses can be booked by volunteers free of charge.

Co-operative association is already working on

The "Freiwilligen-Akademie Bocholt" (Bocholt Volunteer Academy) has set itself the goal of jointly developing, coordinating and offering qualifications, further training and events for associations and volunteers in a clearly structured programme. Project partners (and distribution points for the flyer) are the Adult Education Centre Bocholt-Rhede-Isselburg, the Family Education Centre/Multi-generation House, the association "Leben im Alter", the Caritas Association for the Deanery of Bocholt, the Integration Office of the City of Bocholt and the Volunteer Agency Bocholt. "Other partners are welcome and can contact the Volunteer Agency. The Bocholt Friendship Ring, for example, has already contributed its own offer for the second time for the new programme, reports Rainer Howestädt.

The project is one of many support services that have been developed and implemented in the city-wide network "engagiertestadt Bocholt". The network is currently working intensively on the topic of "digitalisation in associations". "We are already planning corresponding training courses, some of which will be offered and published separately in 2023," Howestädt says.
