Alliance for Families hands over awning for refugee accommodation at Takenkamp

City of Bocholt thanks for the support // Financing through donations from Ukrainehilfe

With a new sun sail on the playground at the Takenkamp refugee centre, children can now play outside in safety even on hot days. The sail was financed by donations from Bocholt residents for Ukrainehilfe.

"Children need safe places where they can be carefree children", emphasises Sabahat Hameed, Chairwoman of the Alliance for Families in Bocholt. "Many families here have had difficult journeys, so it is all the more important to give them moments of normality, joy and security", says Hameed. The awning is a "small contribution, but with a big impact", said the chairwoman.

The awning has now been officially handed over to First City Councillor Björn Volmering and Treasurer Jennifer Schlaghecken at an on-site visit. "Family friendliness does not end at borders or origins", emphasised Björn Volmering, First City Councillor of the City of Bocholt, and thanked all Bocholt residents for the donation. "Every child deserves to grow up in an environment that offers protection and opportunities", says treasurer Jennifer Schlaghecken.
