Theatre play "You are my mother" opens Dementia Competence Weeks

This year's Dementia Competence Weeks in Bocholt start on Thursday, 25 September 2025 with the play "You are my mother". It starts at 8 pm at the Alte Molkerei cultural centre.

The ensemble of "The Cologne Theatre" brings an impressive one-person play to the stage that sheds light on the relationship between a son and his mother suffering from dementia.

What is special about the production is that actor Achim Conrad takes on all the roles: son, mother, walker - and even sun, shadow, light and warmth. The result is an intense portrayal of emotional closeness, but also of the challenges when dementia increasingly characterises family relationships.

The event is organised by Netzwerk Demenz Bocholt in cooperation with Ärztenetz BOHRIS e.V., Alte Molkerei e.V. and the city of Bocholt. After the performance, there will be an opportunity to chat with members of the Dementia Network.

Tickets are available in advance for 16 euros from the Tourist Information Office, the theatre office and the BBV Bocholt. They can also be booked online via the Alte Molkerei's homepage. Admission costs 20 euros at the box office.

Background: Dementia Expertise Weeks

The Dementia Competence Weeks will take place from 25 September to 7 November 2025. They are aimed at those affected, family carers, professionals and interested parties. In addition to the theatre play, the programme includes lectures, workshops and information events on various facets of the topic of dementia.
