Work starts on the new "TuB bridge"
Start of steel construction work on 4/5 December // New construction replaces dilapidated and dismantled wooden bridge // Completion of further components in the coming year
On 4 and 5 December, the city of Bocholt will start the first work on the new construction of the so-called "TuB bridge" over the Alte Aa. The contracted company will begin installing the new steel girders on the prepared foundations. The paths in the area in front of the bridge will then be adapted to the construction to ensure safe and convenient accessibility.
The former wooden bridge for pedestrians and cyclists had been dismantled due to its structural condition. It connected the TuB Bocholt clubhouse with the stadium and was primarily used by athletes and spectators. The new construction will replace the old structure with a durable steel girder bridge with a glass fibre-reinforced plastic covering. A wooden railing complements the modern design and blends in visually with the surroundings.
In the coming year, the timber construction work, the decking and the railings will be installed so that the bridge will then be fully usable again.
