Bridge renovation measures started
The first bridge renovations in Bocholt will be carried out by mid-March. Work has now begun and further measures are planned over the course of the spring. The refurbishment concept affects a total of ten bridge structures, at a cost of around 348,000 euros.
Renovation work is being carried out on the following bridges:
- Rathaus-Brücke zur Schanze, steel bridge
Work has begun on this bridge. The masonry on the abutment is being demolished in order to replace a cross girder. Parts of the abutment will be provided with corrosion protection and then the original condition will be restored, taking into account monument protection requirements. The construction work is expected to last until the end of February.
- Rathausbrücke from Berliner Platz to "Seufzerbrücke", in front of the Mariengymnasium, reinforced concrete bridge
Planned work from 22 January on this bridge is subject to monument protection. Concrete renovation work will be carried out on the substructure, which means that the bridge will be closed and impassable for around three days.
- Wollstegge/Hachtstegge bridge, footpath over Holtwicker Bach, steel girder bridge
Work on the substructure of this bridge, including blasting and repainting as well as the renewal of the railing to a height of 1.30 metres, will begin shortly. The bridge is expected to be closed for one and a half weeks.
- 2 bridges on Heutingsweg ("Ententeich"), steel girders
For safety reasons, wooden planks will be replaced, the substructure will be given corrosion protection and the filler bar railing will also be replaced. The work is due to start in mid/end February and will take around three weeks. Access to the school and kindergarten will not be possible during this period.
- Bridge on Bömkesweg over Bömkesgraben, near Kreuzkamp, concrete culvert
The renewal of the railing to a height of 1.30 metres has already begun and will take about three weeks. The road is closed on one side only.
- Bridge on Schwanenstraße at the level of the vocational college, reinforced concrete bridge
The railing will be renewed to a height of 1.30 metres. The work is planned for the end of February and will take two weeks.
- Bridge on Schwanenstraße near the sewage treatment plant, reinforced concrete bridge
The renewal of the railing is scheduled for the beginning of March and will take about three weeks.
- Bridge on Meckenemstraße near the cinema, prestressed reinforced concrete bridge
The bridge will receive a new raised railing (1.30 m) and will require a one-sided full closure for about two days on both sides of the carriageway in front of the bridge. The measures are planned for the end of March.
- Bridge on Theodor-Heuss-Ring at "sunken bridge", prestressed reinforced concrete bridge
The renovation of the concrete of the bridge substructure and the raising of the carriageway require a one-sided full closure for two days on each side, planned for the end of March.
